Welcome!
Imagine you had been in Jerusalem right after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, or
even 50-100 years after and felt the desire not only to have information about Jesus of
Nazareth, but even more the desire to
meet Him. Where would you have
looked?
Undoubtedly, you would have looked
for His followers, the disciples, or those
who knew the disciples. You would
have looked for the Church. As millions
who became Christian experienced,
through the Church they came to hear
His words and see His gestures, more
alive than ever. They were able to
encounter Him truly in the community
that celebrates His life.
Is this still true today? After 2000 years, can the same Jesus still be encountered, risen and among us? Is the Church still the place of His Presence? Is the early Church long gone, or is it somehow still among us?
I invite you to take the risk to come and see for yourself!
Through the process of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), we will be proposing a path for knowing Jesus, just as the early converts to the faith did, and encounter the One who is Mystery Incarnate: ever-ancient, ever-new.
I invite all Catholics who seek to encounter the Lord more deeply, and all non-catholics who are provoked by these questions, to join us. Also, if you have any curiosities whatsoever about the Catholic faith, you are also welcome to join. There is no pressure to become Catholic if you attend. We will meet most all Thursdays from 7:30-9pm, beginning Sept. 12th.
In any case, know that I am always praying for each of you!
In Christ,
Fr Shane Wieck
